Richard Sibert Graham, known to everyone as ‘Si’, passed away on April 17, 2024 in his home in Redmond, Oregon at age 82.
Si was born in Redmond, Oregon on November 13, 1941. He graduated from Eddyville High School and joined the Navy in 1960, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He served six years in the Navy and during that time met Monica. They married April 18, 1964. Si worked for two years in New York at the Ford Motor company.
In 1966 Si returned to Central Oregon, bringing his wife and new son Rick, and settled in Bend, Oregon. Soon Si and Monica welcomed their second child David. Si’s dream was to become a jockey, but he never got the chance to compete. However, he spent years competing in local rodeos as a bareback and saddle bronc rider. He also bred and trained quarter horses for local race arenas with great success. Si and his sons competed and enjoyed local rodeos together for years.
Si worked for Barclay Logging Company as a logger, specifically a choker setter, and eventually moved to driving logging trucks, which he did for over 40 years. Si retired at age 62 and enjoyed the outdoors and time with his family.
Richard ‘Si’ Graham is survived by his lovely wife Monica, his sons Rick and David Graham, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Si’s tough cowboy spirit and soft heart will be missed by his family and friends. Si hated to be cold, so his Celebration of Life will take place later this summer.
