The Darlene 3 Fire, which threatened neighborhoods in La Pine late last week, is a well-timed reminder ahead of Fourth of July just how easily an accidental fire can grow into a beast that threatens homes and lives.

Fireworks pose a serious risk during fire season, especially as the beginning of July can bring with it some of the hottest days of the year. Central Oregon cities urge residents to be cautious with fireworks and understand what fireworks are allowed in specific places.
