Just in time for Labor Day weekend, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory from Saturday morning through Sunday evening for Central, North Central and Northeast Oregon..
The temperatures are expected to range from 95 to 102 degrees, which poses a moderate risk of heat-related illness, according to the weather service. The advisory particularly applies to those who are sensitive to heat or who are without enough water or air conditioning.
The National Weather Service advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air conditioned room, staying out of the sun and checking in on neighbors and friends. Do not leave young children or pets alone in a vehicle for any reason.
If you work or spend time outside, reschedule those activities to early morning or evening and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning. Wear loose fitting or light clothing when possible, and know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
