Noemi Arellano-Summer is schools, youth and families reporter at
the ÅÝֱܽ²¥. She previously reported on homelessness and the 2020
eviction moratorium with the Howard Center of Investigative
Journalism through Boston University. She was raised in Long Beach,
California, where she started her journalism career reporting for
her high school newspaper. In her free time, she can be found
meandering through a bookstore or writing short stories.
To prepare for the nearly 300 kittens coming to the Humane Society of Central Oregon this year, the organization will hold a kitten shower 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4.
The event at the society's Bend facility, located at 61170 SE 27th St., will include refreshments, activities and education. Those interested in fostering kittens should drop by to learn more about the organization's foster program.
Admission is free, but the organization is accepting usable items such as nonclumping cat litter, wet or dry kitten food, Royal Canin Mon and Baby Cat food, Breeder's Edge Foster Care Kitten Milk Replacer and small litter boxes.
Supplies can also be shipped to the organization directly.
